For decades, people have had to adapt themselves to computers. We translate what we want into fields, menus, buttons, switches and rigid workflows—learning the system's language before it can act on our ideas.

Something is often lost in that translation. Nuance disappears, choices become narrower, and the interface begins to shape what we can express instead of simply capturing what we mean.

AI changes this relationship. Software can now adapt more naturally to the way people think and communicate. Instead of forcing intent into predefined structures, technology can interpret it, clarify it and preserve it.

This does not mean eliminating structure. Every task has an irreducible level of complexity. Simple tasks should require very little structure. More complex tasks need enough structure to make relationships, consequences and choices manageable—but never so much that the original intent becomes distorted.

The role of an interface is therefore to capture intent and introduce only the structure necessary to fulfil it. The best IT systems should not force people to think like computers. They should enable computers to communicate more naturally with people while helping people express and preserve their intent.
